Arriving Soon The 2024 Mazda CX-90
All-New, Performance-Orientated Flagship Vehicle

Mazda Canada Inc. recently announced the pricing and packaging for its upcoming electric-powertrain flagship vehicle, the CX-90.

The new car will offer a combination of luxurious interior furnishings, sporty design, and powerful motors, making it one of the most ambitious vehicles the automaker has ever built when it arrives this spring.

Multiple Powertrain Options Available

The CX-90 is a three-row crossover SUV and will be available in three powertrains and ten equipment packages for further customization. Already-announced models include the CX-90 3.3 Turbo, CX-90 PHEV, and CX-90 3.3 high-output Turbo.

The CX-90’s highest-trim models will feature Mazda’s e-Skyactiv G 3.3L Inline 6 high-output Turbo, the automaker’s most powerful mass-produced gasoline engine. This inclusion means that this version produces up to 340 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque when using premium fuel, with NRCan-estimated fuel economy ratings of 10.3 L/100km city, 8.5 L/100km highway, and 9.5 L/100km combined.

The CX-90 PHEV – the next vehicle in Mazda’s epic line-up – is powered by the e-Skyactiv PHEV powertrain, which combines an electric motor with a 2.5-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine. It will produce 323 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque when using premium fuel, making it slightly less aggressive than the headline model.

Mazda designed the CX-90 to run on the electric motor in most driving situations, with the regular fuel engine providing additional power when needed. NRCan-estimated range and fuel economy figures for the CX-90 PHEV will be announced soon.

The standard powertrain option for the CX-90 will be the e-Skyactiv G 3.3L Turbo engine, which produces 280 horsepower and 332 lb-ft of torque with regular fuel. It
achieves NRCan-estimated fuel economy ratings of 9.9 L/100km city, 8.4 L/100km highway, and 9.3 L/100km combined.

Features And Specifications

Mazda says all three drivetrains will pair with a new eight-speed automatic transmission, designed for larger platforms such as the CX-90. The automaker places the electric motor between the engine and transmission, improving acceleration and boosting low-speed performance.

All future owners can look forward to several innovative features, including Kinematic Posture Control, i-Activ all-wheel drive technology, and Mi-Drive with Normal, Sport, and Off-road modes to assist drivers in various conditions. Mazda will also include Standard i-Activsense safety features. For instance, a blind spot monitoring system detects objects in your left or right blind spots and then alerts you with a warning light on the side mirror to prevent you from moving dangerously into traffic. There’s also an advanced high beam control system to make it easier to spot pedestrians and other potential hazards at night.
