2023 Mazda CX-5 Model Overview
A Highly-Celebrated Compact Crossover

The 2023 CX-5 is a vehicle offering a dynamic driving experience, with all the confidence of i-Activ AWD plus advanced safety features.

Drivers can enjoy various engine configurations plus driving assist systems to mitigate or avoid collisions.

Performance

Most Mazda CX-5 models come with the company’s powerful Skyactiv-G 2.5 L 4-cylinder engine, delivering 187 bhp and 186 lb-ft of torque, offering a superb feel and exceptional control on the road. On the Signature trim, the more powerful Skyactiv-G 2.5 T Dynamic Pressure Turbo engine with 256 hp and 320 lb-ft torque comes as standard.

Despite its engine size, the vehicle is exceptionally fuel-efficient. Cylinder Deactivation technology is now standard on all CX-5 engines, except GX trim, and automatically minimizes drivetrain energy loss, only consuming fuel for the i-Activ AWD system when necessary.

Advanced Safety Features

As a family-focused vehicle, the CX-5 also brings various advanced safety features under Mazda’s i-Activsense technology umbrella. Designers have improved drivers’ ability to sense the road, detect nearby cars, and continue to enjoy enhanced protection at night.

For instance, the blind spot monitoring system tells you when a vehicle is in your blind spot and will prevent you from changing lanes unless it is safe to do so. Meanwhile, the adaptive front-lighting system (AFS) prevents your vehicle’s full-beam headlights from dazzling oncoming drivers automatically, eliminating the need to dip manually.

The Smart City Brake Support (SCBS) is another helpful feature that helps prevent the vehicle from colliding with the car ahead in traffic if you momentarily lose concentration. A laser beam at the top of the vehicle continually scans the road ahead and will apply the brakes automatically if it believes a collision is imminent.

Trims And Specifications

Mazda offers the CX-5 in various trims and specifications, running from the entry-level GX to the GS, Kuro, GT, Sport Design, and range-topping Signature. All vehicles come with i-Activ AWD, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Upgrading to the GS gets Cylinder Deactivation and front wiper de-icer, while the GT brings a Bose premium sound system, wireless phone charging and optional paddle shifters. Going for the Signature trim brings a 360° view monitor, 19-inch alloy wheels, and wood-trimmed front and rear door panels.

Onboard Technology

Finally, Mazda equips the 2023 CX-5 with a suite of advanced technologies, enabling drivers to enjoy an always-connected driving experience. The MyMazda app lets you remotely check your vehicle’s climate control and health and unlock doors or turn lights on wherever you have cell service. The optional Active Driving Display (ADD) offers a high-tech HUD, enhancing the driving experience and keeping your eyes on the road when checking dials.
