2024 Mazda CX-90
New Flagship SUV Announced

The Mazda SUV lineup is set to reach new heights of comfort and performance with the launch of the CX-90, arriving soon in 2023. Here are the new flagship’s key highlights.

Mazda’s Biggest SUV Yet

The 2024 CX-90 is the first Mazda vehicle to be built using an all-new platform that’s wider and longer than any previous design. The upshot is that the CX-90 will seat up to eight in genuinely spacious comfort, unlike many other three-row SUVs where the rearmost seats are more of an afterthought than genuine passenger spaces.

And while the CX-90 is certainly a large SUV, it’s not a lumbering giant. The exterior has been designed to match sleek curves with an assertive stance to create a profile with authentically eye-catching road presence.

Power to Match the Size

The larger body means extra-powerful engineering is needed to provide satisfying performance, and the CX-90 provides three powertrain options that blend raw output with precise and responsive control.

At the base level, a newly designed 3.3L turbo inline-six engine delivers a meaty 280 horsepower and 332lb-ft of torque, a generous amount to propel the sizable frame confidently. But for drivers who are looking for even more, a re-tuned version of the same mill cranks out fully 340 horsepower and 369lb-ft, providing nimble performance with plenty of power in reserve.

In both cases, the engine’s considerable output is passed through an eight-speed automatic transmission before reaching all-wheel drive as standard.

Plugin Hybrid Option

The final CX-90 powertrain option is a plugin hybrid design which pairs a 2.5L four-cylinder gas engine with an electric motor and a high-capacity 17.8 kWh battery. The result is strong acceleration and smooth cruising thanks to the combined output of 323 horsepower and 369lb-ft, along with excellent fuel economy for both city driving and longer road-trip journeys.

High-End Interior and Infotainment Tech

As the new flagship of the Mazda range, the CX-90 supplies pleasingly luxurious interior comfort. High-end materials, including Nappa leather, real wood, and chrome, create an upscale feel, with brushed metal and stitched-fabric accents on the dash adding attractive finishing touches.

The interior technology is placed at a similarly luxurious level, with available features including a 12.3-inch centre display used for accessing the infotainment and safety systems, backed up by physical controls for eyes-free tactile access. The range of information displayed can be customized to your preferences, with options including music playlists, navigation instructions, contact lists, and more.

And lastly, for the interior tech, an Active Driving Display projects essential data directly onto the windshield interior, helping you keep your eyes on the road, with the display area covering three times the space of previous Mazda head-up systems.

i-Activsense: Drive with Confidence

The CX-90 also comes with a full suite of active safety and driver-assist technologies to give increased confidence with every drive. Key standard and available features include:

  • Blind-spot monitoring to improve safety when changing lanes
  • Forward obstruction warnings with smart braking support to reduce collision risks
  • Lane-departure warnings for safer highway cruising
  • Radar cruise control for increased safety and driving comfort
  • Adaptive headlights with automatic high-beam control
